Daphne L. McLaughlin, 93, of Hamburg, NY and formerly of Crown, PA died late Tuesday evening, October 11, 2011 at her daughter's home in Hamburg, NY. Born August 23, 1918 in Grand Rapids, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Ruby Mitchell Wolcott.
She married Joseph C. McLaughlin on December 12, 1936 at St. Mary Church in Crown and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1986.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a housewife. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown where she was involved in many activities including RCIA, Our Ladies Guild, choir, lector and the quilting club. She was a former member of Farmington/North Clarion PTA. She enjoyed playing piano and violin.
Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by 7 children: M. Colleen Pearce and her husband, John of Hamburg, NY; Karen Steele and her husband, William of Franklin, Pa; Kathryn Cangemi and her husband, Marco of Hamburg, NY; Joseph McLaughlin II and his companion, Brenda of Oil City; John (Jack) McLaughlin and his wife, Ellen of Sheffield, PA; James McLaughlin and his wife Amourie of Buffalo, NY and Jeffrey McLaughlin and his wife, Melanie of Crown, Pa. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McLaughlin was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters: Merle, Dean and Dale Wolcott and Lenore McIntyre, Ann Hill and Mary Carol Dempsey. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Jean Rene and a daughter Kristin Bauer.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown, with Rev. Gregory Passauer, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary Church in Crown, PA 16220.
