Obituary of Kermit F. Brosius

Kermit (Kerm) F. Brosius, 90, of Leeper, passed away on Monday August 26, 2024. Kerm was born on December 31, 1933, in Ninevah, PA to the late John W. and Alda Mae (Reitz) Brosius. He graduated in 1952 from Farmington High School in Leeper, PA. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Barnes on June 13, 1953, on the family farm. They shared 64 years of marriage together until Mary Ellen passed away on January 10, 2018. They renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary to each other. He was a skilled welder for Art Metal for 18 years travelling back and forth to Jamestown, NY every day from Leeper. Kerm handcrafted metal banks for his wife and each of their daughters for their birthdays. Upon the closure of Art Metal, he obtained a job as a truck driver for Krevda Brothers. His twin brother, Ken, taught him how to handle an 18-wheeler the weekend before his first delivery. Upon Krevda Brothers' closure, he drove and retired from Klapec Trucking. He was proud of his safe driving record. Kerm refurbished and repaired cars in his home garage on the weekends as well as taking care of the family farm. He also operated Leeper Gulf Station and Kerm's Tires. He could tell you the make, year and model of any car on the road. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and raced them in his younger years. Kerm also loved to yodel. He performed at his daughters' weddings and family reunions or wherever anyone asked him to. He entered and won a yodeling contest at the Fryburg Octoberfest. Kerm and Mary Ellen enjoyed camping and going on a cruise to the Caribbean. He also enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, watching westerns and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kerm was a member of the Good Shepherd Global Methodist Church in Tionesta, PA. There he was involved in the men's group and was on the church counsel at one time. He was a lifetime member of the Clarion Moose Lodge. Kerm is survived by his five daughters: Mary Ellen Heasley and her husband, Larry of Leeper, PA, Susan Radaker and her husband Timothy of Shippenville, PA, Cindy Callihan and her husband David Sr. of Leeper, PA, Deborah Maxwell and her husband Gary of Clarion, and Bonnie Sweeney and her husband Brian of Oil City; 15 grandchildren: Angie (Mason) Coleman, Becky (Matt) Chizmar, Crystal (Shane) Tharan, Dana Sweeney, Bethany (Casey) O'Toole, David (Ashley) Callihan, Erin Sweeney, Justin (Macy) Heasley, Jennifer (Ned) Bartley, Kyle (Amanda) Sweeney, Amanda (Michael) Hepinger, Tori (Jason) Amsler, Cassi (Nick) Ochs, Rick (Kelley) Staley and Bart (Val) Staley; and 28 great grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter on the way. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Kerm was preceded in death by his sisters: Erma Jean, Kathryn and Betty; and brothers: Merle, Earl, James, Charles, and his identical twin brother Kenneth. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. There will also be an hour of visitation on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am at Good Shepherd Global Methodist Church, 9870 Route 36, Tionesta, PA 16353. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the church with Pastor Rick Helsel, as officiant. Interment will take place in the church cemetery following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in Kerm's honor to the Good Shepherd Global Methodist Church at the address listed above.
