Obituary of Dorothy Jean Schmader

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Jean Schmader, 84, of Lucinda, passed away on Monday evening, May 20, 2024, at Snyder Memorial. Dorothy was born on October 6, 1939, the daughter of Leonard and Hilda Vogelbacher. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School. Dorothy retired from Beneficial Finance in Clarion, after many years of service. She enjoyed meeting and being around people, even more so in her later years. Dorothy loved her family and her home. Her family was always together-always. She loved holidays with Easter egg hunts, the house full for the 4th of July, Christmas, or any other special occasion or sporting event. Her yard is filled with perfectly placed flowers, shrubs, concrete statues and fountains. Sitting on her front porch with Eugene after a long day's work was her reward. Being outside on a sunshiny day was her happy place. She was married on August 22, 1959, at El Paso, Texas to the love of her life Eugene A. Schmader, who survives her. They lived across a roadway and small wooded area as children and walked to and from school together every day. Eugene would often remark- to others, or just himself- "she is just a good girl." They were a perfect match and were always happy to be together. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters: Deanna Schmader of Kossuth and Darla (Joe) Collins of Clarion. She had three grandchildren: Joshua McAdoo (Lynnsey) of Shippenville, Meghan Schill of Louisiana, and Luke Schill of the State of Washington. She was blessed with two great-granddaughters that she dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with Molly McAdoo and Karly McAdoo of Shippenville. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Vogelbacher of Fryburg, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her eldest child, her son, Dale Schmader, her sister, Patricia Loll, her brother John Vogelbacher, her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Vogelbacher, Darla Vogelbacher, and Esther Vogelbacher. Her family takes comfort in knowing that they will one day gather together in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As per Dorothy's request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lucinda with the Rev. Michael Polinek, pastor, as celebrant. The Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper is overseeing the arrangements.
