Obituary of Margaret M Carroll

Margaret M. Carroll, 94 of Lucinda passed away Friday evening April 5, 2019 at the home of her daughter where she resided since October from an extended illness, surrounded by her loving children and their spouses. Oldest child of George E. and Katherine Seth Ochs, she was born in Lucinda on October 9, 1924. She graduated high school from Clarion Area and worked at the Landers Store in Lucinda in her younger years. She was married by Fr. Hall to Charles (Nip) Carroll, Lucinda for 56 years. He preceded her in death in 2002. A woman of great faith, she was a member of St. Joseph's Church all her life, a member of the Rosary Society and lived most of her married life in the home her husband and father built. She had many pleasures in life and took particular joy in choosing the perfect greet card for each occasion for her family members and many friends. She enjoyed the company of many whether it was her canasta club, bowling team, gardening friends. Her back yard held a special place called her Friendship Garden with plants exchanged among friends over the years. Her greatest pleasures came from her family and the children and grandchildren's accomplishments, keeping a personal journal on her family's activities for over 50 years. Surviving are her two sons and their wives, John E. and Mary of Alexandria, VA; Paul J. and Cindy of Strattanville; her two daughters and their husbands, Sheila K. and Mark Rathfon of Clarion and Susan M. and Rick Rathfon of Shippenville, PA. Grandchildren, Victoria and Kathleen Carroll of Alexandria, VA; Andrew Carroll of Annandale, VA; Liz (Ethan) Headlee of Pittsburgh; P.J. Carroll of Pennsburg, PA; Chris (Shana Heeter) of Knox, Benjamin Rathfon (Brandice Miller) of Oakmont, PA; Adam (Kelli) Rathfon of Cranberry Twp., and Cassie (Randon) Wensel of New Bethlehem. Great grandchildren include Riley Carroll; Keenan, Gunnar, Spencer Heeter, Gabriel, Gavin, Jordan, Alivia, Delaney and Luca Carroll, Teagan and Declan Rathfon; Lily Wensel and Everett Headlee. Also surviving are two sisters, Marilyn Carroll of Lucinda and Catherine (Kit) Hultquist of San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles, brother Stephen, and grandson Brian J. Rathfon. Friends and family may call at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, April 8, 2019. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lucinda, with the Rev. Joseph Czarkowski, officiant. The family suggests memorials be made to Clarion Forest VNA Hospice 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214, in grateful appreciation of the wonderful care they provided to her.
