Obituary of Opal V McLaughlin

Opal V. McLaughlin, 98, of Leeper, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at Snyder Memorial Nursing Home in Marienville. She was born in Butler to the late Ralph A. and Grace Stevick Rearick on July 17, 1920. On June 30, 1940 she married Arthur L. McLaughlin in Wellsburg, West Virginia. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2011. Opal had worked in retail during her working years. She previously worked for G.C. Murphy, Kresge, and Woolsworths. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and crafting in her spare time. She also was a member of the United Church of Christ in Butler. Opal is survived by her children: Gary L. McLaughlin, of Leeper; Francis R. McLaughlin, of Leeper; grandchildren: Adam McLaughlin, of Marienville; John McLaughlin, of Hillards; and Patrick McLaughlin, of Butler; Great Grandchildren: Adrian McLaughlin, Veronica McLaughlin, Declan McLaughlin, and Lane McLaughlin; and one Great Great Grandchild: Jamison McLaughlin; a sister: Genevieve Rice, of Chicora. In addition to her parents and husband, Opal was preceded in death by a son, Arthur L. McLaughlin Jr., one sister, Mary Staiger and one brother, William Rearick. Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Bell, officiating. Interment will take place at the Good Cemetery in North Pine Grove.
