Obituary of Gerald Fredrick Geer

Gerald Fredrick "Fred" Geer, 79, of Leeper, passed away in the early morning on Monday, October 6, 2014. Born October 11, 1934 in Knoxdale, PA, he was the son of the late Gerald William and Dorothy Amelia Wolfe Geer.
Fred married the former Beulah Arlene "Boots" Boggs on July 7, 1970 and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2011.
He served in the United States Air Force from March 1952 - February 1956, earning the Korean Service Medal and the U.N. Service Medal. He was a local mechanic for most of his life and also a State Park ranger. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping.
Fred is survived by 6 children: Geralyn Kim Smith and her husband, Ken of Brookville; Gerald Frederick Geer II of Hubbard, Ohio; Tina Lynn Borger and her husband, David of Franklin; Troy William Geer and his wife, Heather of Leeper; Carmen Renee Graham and her husband, Vaughn of Tylersburg and Jarrett Ross Geer and his wife, Sarah of Lucinda. He is also survived by 7 stepchildren: Carol Reinard of Charlotte, NC; Cathy Reinard of Youngstown, Ohio; Ginny Reinard of Hubbard, Ohio; Harry Reinard and his wife, Sharon of Hubbard, Ohio; James Custer Hardman, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Portland, TN; Belinda Kay Burns and her husband, Dan of Erie and Melissa Marie Frazier of Marble. In addition, he is survived by 2 sisters, Billie Lee Byerly and Bea Lynn Barr and her husband, Gary, all of Brookville. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Fred was preceded in death by a sister, Delores (Deet) Eshbaugh and a grandson, Brandon Sheffer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Brookville at Jefferson and Pickering Street. The Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Program.
