Obituary of John (Jay) Michael Schmader

John Michael (Jay) Schmader, 64, of Lucinda, died early Saturday morning, March 22, 2014 at Clarion Hospital after a battle with cancer. Born January 22, 1950 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Jerome A. and Veronica Beers Schmader. John was married to the former Alice Kaye on May 24, 1969 at St. Michael Church in Fryburg by Msg. Francis Theobald, and she survives. John served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Oil Well Supply in Oil City and was a farmer. In addition to his wife, John is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters: Eli Schmader and his wife, Jamie of Strattanville, Simon Schmader and his wife, Jennifer of New Boston, Michigan, Debbie Neal of Oil City and Casey Schmader and Alan Belfield of Tionesta. He is also survived by 1 brother and 3 sisters: Jerome H. Schmader and his wife, Deloris of Lucinda, Joan Schwabenbauer and her husband, Arthur of Philadelphia, Janette Towner and her husband, LeRoy of Lucinda and Jill Siegel and Vince Ditz of Fryburg. He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Schmader. Friends and family will be received on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Joseph Church window fund.
