Obituary of G. Ann Garbacz

G. Ann Larrow Garbacz, 60, formerly of Oil City, passed away early Saturday morning, November 30, 2013, at Goldenliving Center in Shippenville after a lengthy period of declining health. Born December 4, 1952 at Oil City Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Vaughn and Joanne McLaughlin Larrow.
She was married to Daniel Joseph Garbacz on July 4, 1975 in Oil City. Daniel passed away on January 14, 1995. Together they had a son, Michael David.
Ann was a 1970 graduate of North Clarion High School and a 1990 graduate of Clarion University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She received her Master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Child Development and Child Care (MSW). Ann was a Mental Health Therapist at the Regional County Counseling Center of Oil City.
Ann loved being a mother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was also very passionate regarding child abuse and neglect prevention. She was a volunteer and advocate for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Venango County.
Ann is survived by her son, Michael David Garbacz and his wife, Lauren of Greenbackville, Virginia. She is also survived by her step-mother Kathryn Larrow of Leeper. She is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Larrow of Austin, Texas and Ronald Larrow of Pittsburgh and 3 sisters, Judy Smith and her husband, Ken of Seneca; Bobbie Larrow of Franklin and Jodie L. Hadden of Rocky Grove. In addition she is survived by one step-brother, Mark Rossey and one step-sister, Lori Hinderliter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a step-brother, Matthew Rossey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Gregory Passauer, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Venango County or Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice.
