Obituary of Jennie Florence (Flossie) Davis

Jennie Florence (Flossie) Davis, 77, of Tylersburg, died Monday afternoon, November 4, 2013 at her home after an extended illness. Born February 5, 1936 in Tylersburg, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Martha Palmiter Marshall.
Flossie married Richard C. Davis on January 15, 1955 at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2009.
Flossie graduated from Farmington High School in 1954. She taught EMT courses at Clarion Vo-Tech and was one of the first woman EMTs in Clarion County. She was one of the founders of the Farmington Ambulance Service. She was a postmaster at the Tylersburg Post Office for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting. She loved scratch-off lottery tickets.
In addition, Flossie was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown and a member of St. Mary's Ladies Guild.
Flossie is survived by 2 daughters and 3 sons: Carol Ann Davis of Tylersburg; Richard M. Davis and his wife, LeAnne of Vowinckel; Mary Jean McCauley and her husband, Dana of Fryburg; George M. Davis of Tylersburg and his significant other Tammy Taylor and John W. Davis and his wife, Nicole of Tylersburg. She is survived by a sister, Louise Marshall of Tylersburg. She is also survived by 4 sister-in-laws: Pat Davis of Pittsburgh; Shirley Marshall of Cortland, Ohio; Clara Cussins of Perry, Georgia and Theresa Davis of Pittsburgh. In addition, she is survived by 3 grandsons, 9 granddaughters, 4 great-grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, Flossie was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers: Mary Wolbert, James Marshall and William Marshall.
Friends and family will be received from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 on Wednesday, November 6, at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Gregory Passauer, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hagan Cemetery.
