Obituary of James L. Quigley

James L. Quigley, 83, of Erie PA died Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Manassas, Virginia. He had a retirement camp in Crown, PA. Born March 6, 1930 in Ridgeway, he was the son of the late Thomas L. and Mary Rebecca Pistner Quigley.
He married the former Rosemary T. McCooey on June 23, 1956 at St. Mary Church in Crown and she survives.
Mr. Quigley graduated from Penn State University. He worked at GE in Erie as a design engineer for 36 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Erie and St. Mary Church in Crown, where he was a 4th degree member of the St. Hubert's Council of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was a Past President of the Inventors Club at Penn State Behrend. Mr. Quigley enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting and family camping trips. He designed and built his camp in Crown and enjoyed his retirement. Mr. Quigley thought that his family was his greatest accomplishment.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Quigley is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons:
Mary Catherine Quigley of Manassas, Virginia; Melanie Klarner and her husband, Larry of Geneva, Ohio; Colleen Quigley of Sterling, Virginia; Thomas Quigley of Simpsonville, SC and Timothy J. Quigley and his wife, Sarah of Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Gausman.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 on Tuesday, October 29, at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Gregory Passauer, pastor of the church, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Mary Church in Crown.
