Helen L. Donahue, 74, of Leeper died late Friday morning, September 6, 2013 at Serenity House in Shippenville, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born August 23, 1939 in Glenfield, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Eugene S. and Lucy J. Woodley Litzinger.
She married John E. Donahue on October 21, 1978 at Little Hill United Methodist Church in Sewickley and he survives.
Helen graduated from Rochester Nursing School and worked at North Allegheny General Hospital. She was the manager of the Sawmill Restaurant in Leeper for over 30 years before retiring. She loved to paint, play bingo, reading and spending time at home and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by 2 daughters and 2 sons: Desiree Rhodes and her husband, Blaine of Franklin; Grant Hulings and his wife, Mary Ann of Erie; Chandra Felmlee and her husband, Shawn of Franklin and Lance Donahue and his wife, Susan of Corry. She is also survived by a sister, Florence Clawson and her husband, James of Hartford, Ohio; and 3 brothers, Eugene Litzinger of North Jackson, Ohio; William Litzinger and his wife, Susan of Coraopolis and Ronald Litzinger and his wife, Shirley of Boyers, PA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Danielle, Ashley, Bryce, Megan, Kaitlin, Shannon, Aneisa, Alexi, Ty, Helen-Anne and Lucy.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Craig.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 for family and close friends at 11:00 a.m. at Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Church cemetery.
