Obituary of Richard Roy Baker

Richard Roy Baker, 82, of Leeper, died early Sunday morning, June 30, 2013 at his home. Born May 5, 1931 in Freedom, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Roy and Edna Mae Allaman Baker. He married the former Carol Ruth McRoberts on October 18, 1953 in Cumberland, Maryland and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2004. Mr. Baker worked for 23 years for Laid-Law Wire in Monaca, PA. He also worked for C & K Coal Company, backfilling, and worked with his brother, Robert, in logging. He then worked for 12 years driving milk truck in the local area. Mr. Baker was a member of the Beaver County Coon Hunters Club and was one of the original charter members. He also was a member of the Tionesta Grange and the NRA. Mr. Baker enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to auctions, working on the farm and taking care of his grandchildren. Mr. Baker is survived by 5 children: Don Charles Roberta of Beaver; Alice Bock of Washington; Raymond Reinhart of Freedom; Tinna Schill and her husband, Dennis of Vowinckel and Dorothy Baker who resided with her father. He is also survived by 3 brothers: Robert Baker and his wife, Rosemary of Venus; John Jacob Baker and his wife, Paige of Freedom and Samuel Baker of Freedom. In addition he is survived by 6 grandchildren: Richard and Steven Reinhart, Elizabeth, Timothy, Brittany and Daniel Schill. He is survived by 2 great grandchildren: Dakota and Colton Reinhart. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Crystal Lynn Baker and 2 sisters, Martha O'Neil and Edna Landis. Friends and family may call from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 on Tuesday, July 2, at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow in the Dehner Cemetery.
