Obituary of Fred Joseph Zacherl

Fredric Joseph Zacherl, 72, passed from this life Thursday morning, July 28, 2011, at his home in Santa Fe, TX. Mr. Zacherl had recently moved to Santa Fe, TX and was previously of Palestine, TX and Leeper, PA.
Born December 26, 1938 in Lucinda, Mr. Zacherl was the son of the late Fred and Grace Lander Zacherl. He married the former Nancy Heasley on April 4, 1959 at St. Mary Church in Crown.
He had worked as a truck driver for 49 years at Krevda Brothers and Klapec Trucking in Oil City, retiring from Wal Mart DC 6836 in Palestine, TX. Mr. Zacherl was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock, was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus #1323 in Palestine and was an honorary lifetime member of the Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company. He had served in the U. S. Army and was an avid motorcycle rider.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 52 years, Nancy Zacherl; sons, David (Brian) Zacherl and wife, Erin of Texas City, Texas and Todd Zacherl and wife, Lori of Santa Fe, TX; brothers, Leslie Zacherl and wife, Betty of Pinellas Park, FL, George Zacherl and wife, Eilene of Emlenton, PA, and Daniel Zacherl and wife, Jeannie of Mercer, PA. Mr. Zacherl was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Sondra, Kyle, Dustin and Lauren and great-grandchildren, Kloe and Taylor.
Mr. Zacherl was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family may call on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 2, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Gregory Passauer, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Dehner Cemetery.
