Obituary of Roy Joseph Schwabenbauer

Roy Joseph "Joe" Schwabenbauer, 78, of Tylersburg, died suddenly Thursday morning, December 9, 2010, at his home. Born December 1, 1932 in Snydersburg, he was the son of the late Charles Jude and Anna Elizabeth Wolbert Schwabenbauer. Mr. Schwabenbauer married the former Vonda Yount on January 14, 1956 at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda, and she survives. Mr. Schwabenbauer served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He started hauling coal for Wolbert Coal after the Korean War. He owned and operated Joe's Garage & Trucking since 1960. He was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown and the St. Hubert's Council of the K of C. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and his dogs. In addition to his wife, Mr. Schwabenbauer is survived by 4 daughters and 2 sons: Darlene Walters of Phoenix, Arizona, Marlene Deak and her husband, Art of Fryburg, Stephen Schwabenbauer and his wife, Amy of Tylersburg, David Schwabenbauer and his wife, Christine of Tylersburg, Carol Hargenrader and her husband, Dan of Cleveland, Ohio and Theresa Pham and her husband, John of San Diego, California. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother: Ruth Johnson and her husband, Robert of Florida, JoAnn Hartle and her husband, Denny of Snydersburg and Charles Schwabenbauer and his wife, Maureen of Tylersburg. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Jessica Clark, Luke Walters, Jason Mealy, Courtney Walters, A.J. Schwabenbauer, Amber Schwabenbauer, Hope Schwabenbauer and Joseph Pham. He is also survived by a great grandson, Aidan Clark. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schwabenbauer was preceded in death by 2 son-in laws, Ross Mealy and Cary Walters. Friends and family may call on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Gregory Passauer, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary Church in Crown.
